A vacancy has arisen for a Future Development Manager within the National Police Aviation Service (NPAS) Futures and Innovation Unit. As a leading provider of police air support, NPAS is looking to use unmanned aircraft technology to understand what new opportunities it can bring. This year, NPAS was awarded a position in the BVLOS Integration Sandbox by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Position overview:

In 2025, NPAS will embark on one of the UK’s most ambitious Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) projects. We are expanding our team to support these flight tests and are looking for experienced professionals to join us.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations and Testing: Support of BVLOS operations, including testing and evaluation.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure UK CAA compliance.
• Partner Engagement: Engage with industry partners, hardware providers and government stakeholders.
• Project Support: Assist the Futures and Innovation project team with project management, trial planning and data recording.

The successful candidate will have:

• Extensive experience as an unmanned operator, preferably with BVLOS operation and testing.
• Good knowledge of UK CAA regulations.
• Excellent partner engagement and communication skills.
• Proven expertise in aviation safety standards and RPAS needs to expand the regulatory environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to support extensive flight test programs.
